Lymphatic Drainage Massage
A gentle, restorative treatment that supports your body's natural detox system.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic technique designed to support your body's natural detoxification system — the lymphatic system. Unlike deep tissue massage, this treatment uses light, sweeping strokes to encourage the movement of lymph fluid through your body, helping to reduce swelling, ease tension, and support overall wellness.
How Does It Work?
Your lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that carries away waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your tissues. Unlike your circulatory system, it doesn't have a pump (like the heart) to keep things moving — it relies on movement, breathing, and outside stimulation like massage.
During a session, I use gentle, targeted strokes that follow the natural pathways of your lymphatic system. This encourages fluid to flow more efficiently toward your lymph nodes, where it can be filtered and processed by your body.
What Are the Benefits?
Clients often seek lymphatic drainage massage for:
- Reduced swelling and puffiness — especially helpful after surgery, injury, or during pregnancy
- Improved circulation — supporting healthier, more nourished tissue
- Lower stress levels — the light, rhythmic touch is deeply relaxing
- Support for the immune system — by helping the body clear waste more efficiently
- Relief from heaviness or tightness — common in the legs, arms, or face
What to Expect During a Session
This isn't a deep-pressure massage. If anything, it's the opposite — the strokes are light enough that some clients are surprised by how gentle it feels. Many people find it deeply calming, and it's common to feel relaxed or even sleepy afterward. You may also notice increased urination in the hours following your session, which is a normal sign that your body is processing the fluid that's been moved.
Is It Right for You?
Lymphatic drainage massage can be a great fit if you're recovering from surgery, dealing with swelling, managing a chronic condition, or simply looking for a gentler way to support your body's natural rhythms. As with any treatment, it's a good idea to mention any medical conditions — such as heart or kidney issues, active infections, or blood clots — before your session, so we can make sure it's the right choice for you.
